While there he got a job helping at a farm.

Annual Dinner.
A formal Anual Dinner was held each year where we had some interesting guest speakers which included Steve Race, Mr T Bunyan Bsc. F.R.A.E.S, and |Terry Walton vice president of MAYC - Our very first Annual Dinner was held on May 4th 1957 and cost 3/- John Meager, Jock Ballantyne, Guest Speakers and Rev George Lovell

Methodist Circuit Youth Leader

Girls Life Brigade
The 1st Anerley Company of the Girls Life Brigade was an important part of Anerley Methodist Church in the 50's. The first Captain of the company was Captain Pitts, who was followed by Captain Payne . At Church Parade Services each month the church was full. The members were loyal and a tribute to the leaders Captain Payne, Leffie Ada Whitehead and Leffie Simpson. Jack and the Beanstalk
Anerley Town Hall in 1956.Price was three shillings - see History - Productions and click on "more" to view the ticket The giants head and huge boots were removed for the Saturday Matinee performance because the children in the audience were frightened of the Giant.
The ballet dancers were Hazel Smiths troupe and included Valerie Tomkins and Julia Smith
