Hello Everyone,

My name is Imran Malik. I am going to be your new Probationer Minister from September 2012. I am married to Sarah Malik (ex-Methodist Youth President). We are parents of a Son Called Rohan who is two years Old.  He is very friendly and active.

I grew up in a town of Pakistan called Baddomalhi. My mother tongues are Panjabi and Urdu. From a very young age I felt that God is calling me to His service in a church setting but it took me a long time to discern what directions I should take.  When I arrived in England I lived in Slough for two years then I went to Derbyshire to study theology at Cliff College. After finishing my studies at Cliff I came to Queen’s Foundation in Birmingham to do ministerial studies. Currently I am doing an MA in contextual theology along with ministerial studies.

I enjoy cooking and am well known for my curry. My favourite food is Caribbean goat curry although I haven’t learnt how to make it yet. I enjoy running and playing badminton. Currently I am training for the Stafford half marathon. I enjoy watching films and documentaries; my favourites are David Attenborough and Brian Cox.

My family and I are very excited and are looking forward to meeting the congregations of Upper Norwood and Anerley. When we began this process, as a family we hoped and prayed that we could become a part of a faith community that is devoted to serving and loving the communities they are located in, and are committed to growing the Kingdom of God.  I have been reading the churches portfolio and I feel encouraged by your diversity and the mission and ministries you are doing. I feel that there is a lot to which I can contribute (Perhaps even towards the table tennis!) and during my time with you, I will be devoting myself to evangelism alongside preaching, teaching, pastoral care, healing, youth and family ministries. However I strongly believe that I would not succeed in any of those without the help of the full body of Christ.

I truly hope and pray that my time in the New circuit with you will be a blessing for all of us and bring glory to God.  As you are all in my prayers, I humbly request you all continue praying for the things that you want to see in your new circuit and in your churches.

Yours in Christ

Imran Malik
